little bits on windows
« on: December 09, 2011, 10:30:52 pm »
Does anyone else have this problem. Been doing first cleans all week with wfp and when i think i'm finished see lots  of little bits on windows. I don't mean spotting. Taking about 3 times as long to do them. I'm wondering if they are spider  nests. Does anyone else get this problem. i get it al ot on new ones. And if so can it be avoided. Advice appreciated.

maybe you need a higher flow as your rinsing isn`t washing off the loose dirt especialy on first cleans when dirt is desturbed from the frames ect

Thanks for quick replies. I think i use a reasonably high flow rate going through lots of water on these first cleans 40 on pump. Seems to be coming from top of frame. I very rarely  get spotting so i think i'm using enough water. Or do you flood rubber at top of frame to solve this.

Hi Jeremy, dont worry mate its just grit.
We went thru this a while ago doing a new housing estate and we would rinse and rinse and bloody rinse.
At the end of the day once the water has dried the grit will either drop off or the wind will blow it away.

sometimes with wfp cleaning
i think we get a bit paranoid esp
wiv the moaners in this world so we tend to see
bits grit etc when really the glass is fine
water at 000 shud in all honesty dry fine
if technique is followed
anything else is user error
which even im capable of
SOMETIMES  ;D ;D ;D ;D
as H2ose i think says "its not a magic wand "" ;D ;D ;D

Thanks. It was a new housing development and probably am paranoid as still quite new to this. Glad to hear it will just blow away. as i still haven't got enough customers for a full round it's easy to worry too much and seek perfection.

You might initially try to rinse with the brush on the glass after you have scrubbed it. You do this by just tickling the bristles of the brush on the glass and slowly weaving it down side to side to the bottom. This should bring those little bits down as well. Then do a second rinse with the brush off the glass and see what happens.

If you see the odd bit of grit after that leave the window to dry down, but make a point of going back to check it later, being prepared to redo if necessary. This will help you to identify what to you can safely get away with and will help you gain confidence. No matter how much you try, you will never get the window 100% perfect, but your aim should be to get to as near perfect as possible without spending all day doing it. On the other hand, if your customer suffers from cleaning OCD then leave them to the next cleaner to find out about.

We usually clean the next house and go back to the first to wipe the cills down, and use that time to give the windows a quick scan. Good thing we do as I have missed a couple of windows accidently these last few weeks.
