Hello everyone,

As I previously stated I am going to be investing in a van, wfp system etc soon.
I am young so have no money saved up so I will be relying on getting a loan to finance everything, this is obviously risky and I will have to build the round up quickly, but I was thinking of getting a part-time job, maybe 3-4 days a week to guarantee some income while concentrating on the round on days off.

It just seems quite daunting and I keep questioning if there is enough work out there.

Just want to know if anyone else experienced anything similar when starting and how you got past it?

Just seen this on ebay, worth investing?

Do u have high monthly outgoings eg own place wife kids etc and ru in a good well paid job now ?

Why invest thousands of pounds with no guarantee of work? For now buy a set of ladders and traditional equipment make up some cheap leaflets and go door knocking. Then when you have a few days work each week invest in a back pack or trolley. Then when you get busier and nearly a full week every week go an look into a second hand van and build your own wfp for less than 1 k. Don't throw yourself into debt without having any work to back it up. You want at least 400 a week before even thinking about wfp

Nope I live at home so no kids or high bills etc, as for work atm i'm working for another window cleaning company but he doesnt have a full weeks work so thinking of going alone.

Even if you are able to get a loan, I wouldn't advise getting in to debt before you start!
Can you not change your terms with the guy you work for at the moment? Sub contract on a S/E basis from him, whilst you build up your own custies.......do not pinch any of his custies though. Then while you are building your own you can decrease the days working for him, therefore you still keep up your speed and skills, have a good local contact with another windie. I too would only invest in trad gear at the moment, wait until you have a good esatblished year under your belt and then think about WFP

Makes sense really. Im starting up myself in the new year, traditional methods and see how I get on. Its a win win situation as its a small outlay compared to WFP and if things dont work out the stuff you bought (ladders, roof rack, bucket etc.) can be used for jobs around the home.

first off   go knocking and get work,  then start off trad,  then build up money,  dont think you can get a load, unless your credit is great,  (age/self employed)  when you have build up a round then buy a van and system,  you can get  both for less than 1000

Thanks for the replies everyone, however, it seems to me that I should have the van and equipment ready before I start going out knocking otherwise I will get a customer then won't be able to clean their house until I get the gear?

I got the kit, van Ionic system etc etc before I had a single customer, so I appreciate where your coming from. Get the part time job and then leaflet and canvass the rest of the time.
Probably the biggest issue you will have is feeling like giving up. Fight through these times. It will happen when you have had a run of bad luck, people messing you about and perhaps something going wrong with the van/system.
The funny thing is, when you have got through the bad time, something good/positive will happen alomost as a reward for not quitting.
It's like getting a big ball to start rolling, very hard at first but once it's going things are much easier. Do the best job you can every time and you will get there.

Get something like that and get out with your leaflets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
