« on: December 01, 2011, 10:55:20 pm »
I have still yet to find a chemical that removes this effectively did a cream synthetic carpet last week tried ultrapac tried powerburst none of which worked used plenty of agitation dwell time etc. I have another job next week again areas of sock dye can you guys suggest anything that works on this type of soiling/stain

Jim did you have a look at it with a pocket microscope?  You need to determine whether it's dye or fibres.

A solvent type spotter sometimes can do the trick with dye, otherwise a reducing agent may make a difference.

It had fibres too which were removed but left a mottled effect darker area behind

I do flats on a regular basis at one converted mill
and the problem I have is sock fluff.
Or that's what I think it is.
Little bits of black fibre that won't vac up or extract
but you can pick it up with your fingers.

John, what agitation do you use before extraction?  Even something as lightweight as a duo normally gets them out of polyprop, rotary with poly scrub brush eats it for breakfast.

Agitate with carpet brush, they seem to be
intertwined with the fibres.

I had one that looked minging all round the bed. On closer inspection was proven to be sock strands. Gave the lady the option of paying me to do it or showing her for free. She chose the best option ;D

This problem is definately not fibres in the carpet i have seen these fibres and the are difficult to get out but the sock dye marks are impossible to remove even from synthetic carpet
