Sorry Tony my post was very much tongue in cheek

I was just trying to stress the point that if it isn't out of your way, why not invest a little time and a few pence of diesel to go out and make them feel special?
The thing is, the majority of other cleaners will just get straight down to price over the phone so you can immediately surpass your competition by giving the customer a much more personal service before you've even plugged your machine in!
Peter does make a very valid point though - if you're extremely busy you might not have the chance to get out there and quote in person - after all, booking a home visit for a quote 5 days in advance is pretty rare, they are going to want to find out sooner than that. The most I think I can swing it is 2 days.
It's all about balance I suppose. But I do stand by my point, which is that if it is very close to home, even if you're stacked out with work there's no excuse not to get out there in person even if it means going at tea time. After all, the strongest business we all build up is right on our doorsteps.
Only happens rarely but I went out on 2 quote visits this evening at 5.45pm and got back at 7.15pm. Both are former customers that needed re-activating from some years ago, both of them accepted and booked in on the spot. Quite a lot of ££ worth of work in the bank for a little time and effort

If I hadn't have shown them the courtesy of coming out at a time that suited them, it might have been difficult to secure the work. The first one started off as a lounge carpet on the phone but ended up as a whole 4-bed house
