Can I clean shagpile?
« on: December 06, 2005, 09:35:12 pm »
Hi all,
Went to a quote in a Penthouse fltt today. 4th floors up !  :o There had been a fire below a week ago, and there had been some smoke dust etc into the flat. You coulnt really see much dust as she had had cleaners in to clean everything. She wants all the carpets cleaned.
Alot of the carpet is a doddle, but in a bedroom there was what I believe is called shagpile. It is whiteish in colour and about 4cm in length. Ive been cleaning about a year and havnt had clean, or been asked to clean it before.
Can it be cleaned? It seems as if it will just get sucked up the wand I would have thought. Even vacuuming it could be difficult, or am I wrong?
Any advise please?
Tnx
Ben

Benny, if the carpet not too soiled, ive found the best method would be to prespray with M/S and bonnet buff with rotary machine, maybe due to smell sanitise after clean.

Tnx Stu, Ive only got a TM, so no good then.
Im not too concerned as I believe that she only got me there for an insurance quote.
I'll be far too expensive for her

Benny the best part of a clean for shag piles is dry vacuuming in all different directions and them some more, I would also use a pre spray of your choice I recommend a wool safe one and then a GOOD but careful aggitation and then use your TM to hwe, check to see if customer like the fragrance you are going to use on carpet to make it smell fresh and also turbo dry as these carpets take some drying.
