Hi guys, I'm installing my RO system this week into a small shed I've built.  I've lined part of  the inside with 25mm Kingspan and although I've not finished the job yet, I checked the temps this morning and it seems there's no difference between the outside temp and that inside the shed....

Hopefully my temp meter is up the spout as if it's not I might have a problem, in the early hours of Monday morning the temp went down to 3 out there so once the snow arrives it could get a little naughty.

I'm thinking about making another box inside the shed to house the RO unit and lagging the feed pipes to the tank, I'm not to worried about the tank freezing just the RO unit.

Do you think Kingspan will keep it from freezing or will I have to invest in heating the shed over the next few months.

25mm kingspan aint going to do a great deal youd be better with 100mm , is it a wooden shed youve built ?

i was thinking of doing the same but i was thinking that it would be good at keeping the heat in with a small heater

I kept mine in a little green plastic shed for years, but had a wooden one built last year thats attached to the side of the house.

I never had a problem with it freezing, but i did wrap the RO in a couple of tank insulation jackets and dumped a old quilt on top, if it got really cold I'd keep a oil filled rad in there.

Still do the same and survived -21 last winter.

my R.O. is under my kichen sink the waste gos down the washing machine pipe and product through a small drilled hole in the wall through JG tube into tank.

I'm a little skint at the moment and was going to get 100mm B&Q foam for £15 a sheet, then I noticed the kingspan at 17 so thought it would be worth getting as I seem to remember the kingspan being a higher rating.

It is a wooden shed, I was also thinking about housing the RO inside the house but I'm a little paranoid that it could spring a leak.

Mine is stored in a shed also ( breeze block ) , last winter I got 2 smart price duvet covers from asda , a light tog to wrap around and a heavier tog to go on top, never had a problem

we've built ours into shed, and insulated a compartment into the shed....... it will keep the heat in better, but still needs abit of heat input. oil filled radiator best bet, cheapest safe bet. I'd worry with just blankets or duvet, but it all helps.

ive got mine in my garage with a nice central heating radiator in there so nice and warm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm which am very lucky really as garage is at front of house so easy to transfer water !!!!!!!!!!!! lucky me !!!!!!!!!!!!

not everyone is as lucky so we look at other options .
