card readers- anybody got one here?
« on: November 29, 2011, 04:09:21 pm »
this year ive had a few phone calls from service providers trying to get me to have a card reader on my van. ive brushed them off but im wondering if any of you modern uns  reckon theyre a good idea?

i discussed it with some mates  and we reck that some folk might think we have a new machine  to clone their cards with a dodgey reader  or are downloading their details to plunder later at home. obviously this is the caveman approach , but not all my customers are that way, im thinking the card reader might attract the better types who take it for granted to pay by card .

better types, can usually pay online,   the thing with the card is you either have to phone them up or go to them with the machine,  might as well collect cash

some of the well-heeled types dont have cash on them, AND  some of the not-so-well heeled .  in fact quite a few never have cash ready ,but most likely have a card in their purse/wallet

It would be nice to do a spot of collecting on the phone with your feet up in front of the fire. and should bring the monthly debt list right down.

we have one from cardsave, it did take a little while for people to experiment using it and trusting us but once they have paid a couple of times and seen it going out there statements they all love it, it actually makes you look a bit more professional and up to date,we rarely use it on the job even tho its mobile but we are clamping down more now on collecting so maybe we could begin taking it out

I just take card payments over the phone. I decided against the machine cause it would probably get broken.

Whatever happened to these guys.......

Paypal also keep 50% of the transaction and release it 60days later if you have a virtual terminal
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go
