hi there i bought a varistream pump controller a few weeks ago i tried adjusting it but dispite that it has a lag on the water pressure it takes a few sec's for the water to come through and it flashes p for a few secs and then kicks in
can any one shed sum light??
There will be a lag and sometimes it's longer than at other times. The system checks the 'dead end' situation once every so many seconds. It does this by sending an electrical pulse to the motor to see if the pressure is still in the line. With the tap switched off time the gap between pulses when the motor tries to restart and you will have your delay.
If it is 5 seconds, then if that will be your longest delay before the pump starts again. On occassion you may open you tap at the very time the Varistream has just finished its pulse - if so then you will have to wait that time until the next pulse for the motor to start. You then may at another time open your tap just as the Varistream sends a pulse to the motor and you get a flow virtually straight away.
The first minibore hose I used came from Cleantech and this pump lag was very noticeable as the hose was very stiff. The last lot of hose came from Gardiners and as its swells a little under pressure, it acts as a reserviour so this pulse is hardly noticeable.
With the Cleantech hose I did think of fitting an expansion vessel into the 'line' but never did.
It's not a design fault with the Varistream. If the pulse time was set with a shorter delay then the battery wouldn't last as long as it does.
