How to drive cheap carpet cleaners out
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:39:41 pm »
A friend of mine who is a carpet fitter posted this today on facebook

Got told by a carpet supplier that they might have to stop dealing with me as ... Wait for it. Im too cheep. 5 other carpets shops in Newport had complained about me being too cheap and they were losing work. !!! Absolutely dumbfounded !!! Cut your prices !! Simples !!

I wonder if this would work with cleaning product suppliers. "Sorry you're too cheap we won't sell you anything."  ;D

Personally I don't know what all my customers charge, some of them but not all. Just realised though that the biggest spenders on products are also the highest priced. Does that not say something in itself.

the refusal of manufacturers to do business with companies who sell cheaply has been in practice for a long time.

the most noted is the perfume industry who refuse to sell to supermarkets who then under cut traditional department stores, they see the selling of their perfume at a cut price as undermining their image of being exspensive..... but worth it

until the nineties pharmaceutical companies would only sell through the more expensive pharmacy's.... again not selling to supermarkets who would sell cheaply, their was an actual law in place stopping supermarket selling over counter medication which kept the price of these items artificially high. it was the change in this law that is said to be responsible for over 70% of pharmacies closing in the last 10yrs

the refusal to sell to companies who help under-value our industry might not be a bad idea
