I'm fed up with the Xmas run in so I've started to play, I purchased an air compressor and a spray gun a couple of weeks ago and have now decided to give it ago.

I applied a pre spray (no branded names ) on to some upholstery, it was nice and even infact very even then cleaned in the same way I would normally (no not with soap and a sponge!) BYE ECK it didn't have dry fast!

No difference with end result but quicker drying. Just wondering if I could apply a water based protector in this way or is it too fine?

Catch reponses later as I'm out to clean another carpet (or bath the kids, what would you do?)

If you use protector in it SS, remember to rinse it out well with water afterwards or the jet will bung up. been there done that!!

Shaun a compresser will put too much of the product into the air, so will waste a lot of the protector.

also even if its water based  it won't do you any good if you breath it in.

High Volume Low Pressure may be the way to go, or HVLP for short, they are a bit more expensive but worth it.Word of caution though. They do consume a lot of air so make sure your compresser has enough cfm capacity to supply the gun.
HVLP is a better than conventional spraying as it delivers much more of the atomized substance to the surface.
