Winter protection
« on: November 27, 2005, 12:12:55 pm »
Hi,

I am new to the forum. I started my own cleaning company ayear ago with a friend. Prior to that we have both had a lot of experience in the cleaning industry. We run a Pro Chem Blazer XL. anyone got any ideas how to protect it from frost. We currently park it out side my house so i want to run an oil filled heater on an extension lead to it, but cant find a one of those rubber non trip covers for the cable. Screw Fix have like 9metre lengths for £70 but i only need a metre or two to go across the pavement. Any other ideas or suggestions where i can get the cable cover?? Cheers.

Hi countyview
I think you would be taking a very risky chance running electric cables to your van across a public pathway, have you looked at other  alternatives, such as insulating the van or a self running van heater such as a eberspacher  ,as has been suggested already have a look on the forums search engine it might give you some other ideas.
                         cheers mark

The Airtronic looks ok for what i need, do they need installing? Are they independent of the vans electrics? Can you take them out or are they fitted??

HI countryview
yes they do need installing, they are connected to your fuel tank or a seperate fuel tank.i paid £850 including vat for supply and fitting from woodbridge in Harlow, essex .they sell a few on ebay from £200 to £300 second hand but obviously you take your chances going along that road.some cc's have fitted them themselves or have bought seperatly and had a local garage fit them ,but they are a fantastic piece of kit which you would not be sorry in investing in.
