I use this from Screwfix: http://www.screwfix.com/p/reinforced-suction-delivery-hose-10m-x-1/10105
Works well.  ;)

Thats the hose i got, except i bought mine from gardiners, its about a million times better than lay flat. Gardiners also do the on/off valve for this size hose also.

Its very tough so should last a while. I've had mine about 18 months and is still as good as new with no splits or holes.

Just bought some more lay flat and it does my head in! The slightest kink reduces the flow hugely. Grrr!!

Should've just used this stuff!

same with me, I use tricoflex. heavy (well, when rolling up 110 feet of it it is!) but quality pipe. don't know how will cope with freezing temps, but its thick stuff.

It should be fine in freezing temperatures, the water will obviously freeze inside though. Expensive but you won't have to buy it twice and you won't get a wet leg in the dark.

that tricoflex stuff is so good it nearly blew up my flipping tank!

filling it up today with my Clarke booster pump the 110 feet from the static tank, and after couple hundred litres in my 650 tank, my wife noticed the tank was swelling! suddenly it gave an almighty bang! I shut off pump, and opened the overflow valve at top of tank. a huge rush of air pressure pushed out, I'm guessing the tank is so well sealed and with the speed of water going in the air had nowhere to go! tank seemed to be alright, but lesson learned!  :-[
