George and notebooks
« on: November 12, 2011, 03:35:08 pm »
I am thinking of getting a notebook for taking out with me so that I can run the full program on it. Something like Aspire One.

The screen size is 10.1 inch which gives not quite the right height for the main menu screen (by about 3/4") has anyone used george with a netbook and is the height issue actually an issue?

Hope that makes sense.

As I now understand it, it depends on the resolution of the screen and the application.
Does anyone know the resolution of the main menu screen?

I have an acer aspire one and run george... yes the screen goes off which was annoying, but i took off certain figures so on the job list it only shows ...

DUE / NT / JOB / PRICE / BALANCE

And then on the debt list it shows the following which goes a little off the screen, but you can still see the balance

JOB / DON / INV / BALANCE

I don't understand why some of you want to take a laptop to work with you!

I simply print worksheets out and update properly on computer when I get home in the evening.why take the risk of having it stolen/damaged while out cleaning?

I have George on an acer one, cos was fed up with hotsync problems. Much better. Palm would only give me a few days work to do. Your display will be setup related. I have no regrets about doing this. As for break in, with thousands pounds gear in the back, I don't worry bout 80 quid computer in cab. But I will put it away if not going to be near van.

I used to print out work, then spend 30 minutes updating in evening and then printing out next days work.

Now it takes me a few minutes whilst working.

Much better.

I think you have to have the back up file, and then download the restore utility from the george program - think it's on the FAQ page

Sure, if you can get hotsync to work properly. You have to download a second program onto your new computer and open your backup file. It's all on faqs on George website.

It's really takes no time at all. You gotta think of the trees.  8)
No really. Personally I prefer it all to be with me. And as mentioned before, when a new customer says, when will you be in my area. I can tell em in a matter of seconds. And also put new customers straight into computer rather than writing down and the losing their details.
