Any one else notice it's much thinner than it used to be ? Really noticed a difference recently,are my suppliers being naughty and watering it down,or have Prochem changed it ?

Don't know.
I only use when I have to, so I'll run for 10  minutes during which time I can normally tell by the way the wand feels on the carpet if there is excess foam around, but I also go and check the waste tank and gauge from there how much defoamer to put in.

I have to be honest I just normally slug it into the tank so cant tell if its thinner but has same performance.

yep i think they have changed the formulation... i think it used to be much more efective, as above now use powder as cheaper dont find it as good as original liquid

I noticed that last week, was going to ask my supplier when i pop in next time if they was watering it down, the difference is really noticable, used to be thick like glue, now its like water!

I now use Clover defoamer and find it a lot better and its cheaper.

Yeah it's really thin,need to get the place I get my stuff from to get some powdered in then,will go back to that..The round tubs are a bit annoying though.
I just put it in now,from the start,not worth the risk of sucking foam,you can feel it through the wand,but by the time I get from upstairs to the machine,it's normally sucked it through the vacs

Might be cheaper per case but find I have to use more of it and therefore it's price advantage is not as great as you may think.

Does this new thinner defoamer work any less effectively?  Or could it be that prochem have.... shock horrror... been spending money on R&D and improved the formula so it is easier to work with whilst still giving the same results?!

Gloopy products are a bit of a nightmare to measure out accurately, maybe they've just improved it

I stopped using it when my supplier recommended Staypro instead its much much thicker almost like glue, last twice as long and its the same price, its also  the same with the Prochem acid rinse. its rubbish dilution rates are silly, i now use the acid rinse from solutions UK, 60 ml in the whole tank last ten times as long

Staypro liquid defoamer lasts a lot longer.

Mike, I don't even carry defoamer on the van - I run a TM which has a big waste tank so is less prone to mild/moderate foam probs.  I've taken defoamer out with me a couple of times I can remember recently when extracting shampoo or washing dtergent spillages.

I have the fart end of some prochem stuff, god knows how old it is, it came with a job lot of stuff I bought about 3 years ago and was only half when I got it!

As an emergency, I have a citrus alcohol based grease breaker type of product which kills foam instantly, used to just use a little bit of that in times gone by.  I've never used foamy products and must be lucky I rarely encounter carpets full of foamy residue

Called them yesterday,and gave them the batch number and told them the issue,they were aware of a problem,I was the 2nd person to call,said I can take it back and swap it for one from a different batch,they said their customers often pick up on the slightest difference in their chemicals,and thanked me for bringing it to their attention.
Nice,said it's been tested,and they found that it performs the same
