Hi All,
Here is a story that proves to me that Groupon just isn't worth it as a way of expainding your window cleaning business...
I had a customer who stopped me window cleaning their house whilst they had a large extension built (which is understandable)... Today I was driving past the house and noticed the building work had been completed, so I decided to knock to see if they wanted me to start window cleaning again.
The house is a large detached 4 bedroom house, with a new big extension.
Me: "Hi, do you remember I used to clean your windows before the building work started - Would you like me to start cleaning them again now its complete?"
Customer: "Yes please, I'm glad you knocked as I had lost your number"
Me: "Great, when shall I come and do them?"
Customer: "Well, not just yet, someone else is coming next week to clean them - I found them on Groupon, I thought it would be a cheap way of getting them cleaned as they are filthy because of the building work, but I would like you to come back and start cleaning them regularly after that".
Me: "Ok, no problem... How much are you paying through Groupon to get them cleaned?"
Customer: "£20"
Me: "Ok, see you in a few weeks!"
So... The guy who has offered his services through Groupon is going to clean a 4 bedroom detached house, which is basically a builders clean, and only earn about £10 from it!
Where is the business sense in that?
