Are you sure it was't just wear in those areas? I always explain that regardless how well you can clean a carpet, you can't put the life back into them!

The trouble with Berber if it isn't regularly maintained (cleaned) is because the pile is a loop all the wear occurs over the full length of one side of the loop. This degrades the fibres over a larger area than a normal tufted carpet. This causes light to absorb rather than reflect and this compounds the dinginess. This is more marked on manmade berbers as the filaments become very rough.

a berber is a loop - a twist is a cut pile.
What the hell is a berber twist?

Craig,
I'm wondering if there actually is a correct answer to this.
I used Powerburst on a really mucky (synthetic) domestic HSL last week and it hardly touched it. This was (exactly) what was left in the sprayer from a really oily factory office carpet the day before (where it shifted everything).
I then used (soluboosted) M-Power on the HSL and it came up like new. Normally I would expect to turn to Powerburst if M-Power could not do the job.

It might be the combination of powerburst followed by M-power which achieved the results, each working on particular soils. I have often used nemisis in various solutions as a wetting agent where it has worked very well where niether has worked independently, only needs about 7-10ml per litre.
