i should have used tthe quote function for my post i suppose

but it wasnt in response to you..im not saying chemicals dont work on alkaline stains

my post was in response to the person advising a scourer for egg plant

then i said what I tell the customer, because i dont use such chemicals....which is my choice is it not?...im not advising YOU personally to say anything of the sort

mainly because your not the one using a scourer to remove egg plant ffs

but thanks for your sarcasm...:)

Point taken and appology offered.

I think had pure clean2o communicated exactly what the problem was and replied to my posting rather than ignore it, (and yes, had you used quotes as well) then maybe.... the whole thread would have gone a bit differently but he chose later to say that the window was on the 3rd floor and not on the 1st as I had assumed. He didn't even say if he was using wfp or trad.

Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

yes but the op did say that he had tried to trad, so we have to assume that was a possibility, so info given was good, my suggestion then would be the same, acid, sheet up frames if need be and use an ally scaffold, if that won't be paid for there is nothing you can do, wfp won't do that type of work

You want to be really careful its not some form of coated glass before you start playing with acid and scourers or scrapers.

If you have spots that won't come off I would start walking away now saying that you are reluctant to try using anything stronger than soap and water. Which I would imagine has already been tried

Its only a job, theres always another one right around the corner. If somebody else can get it off then good for them but I would be long gone.

id go along with this actually...i dont use acids...but i do use a scraper....and some glass is coated, and scratches like a b1tch!!!!

i think it might be K coating (which i believe is supposed to be in between the glazing, but is often built the wrong side round at the factory)

most coating is quite obvious...but some is not detectable at all....and on new glass im finding it quite often these days!!!

not sure i would use a scourer.....

all i do is try a razor....if that doesnt work i just tell them there is nothing in my powers that i can do about it...but that it may wear off in time

This is getting quite funny.

I can post what I want because what I post is invisible.

Yes.... try a razor. Brilliant.

Have you maybe wondered why cleaning company's sell (expensive) branded acid type cleaners to remove water stains, mineral deposits and like. It's obviously got nothing to do with the fact it works?

As Stu says, acid and alkalines.

Also, how is a water stain/mark/mineral deposit going to 'wear off'? What's going to happen on that paine of glass to 'wear it off'? Maybe ants with mini hobnail boots dancing the cha cha? Spiders with abrasive feet? Wasps armed with a bic razor?
