All gone quiet over here
« on: October 25, 2011, 07:02:57 pm »
Only 1 call since last Thurs for a lounge carpet.
First time this year the phone has gone dead.
In a way its given me time to get the kit and van serviced ready for the xmas rush, and have a few days rest.
Its last week before payday and school holidays so suppose next week it will prob go mad again.
How busy is everyone else just out of interest??

Phones have been quiet for the last couple of weeks, hopefully the lull before the storm

It has gone quieter the last week, which was a good time for the gearbox to pack up this morning >:(
I've got a lovely picture of the backend of an AA van which I had to stare at for 15 miles down the M3 ;D

It's burst pipe weather soon insurance companies will be needing all hands to the pump no need to worry unjustly or just helping out those who carry no insurance.

I still get the traditional surge, starts around this time and then BANG phone goes dead around the 15th December, save for a few last-minute jobs

But a few weeks ago I went a bit crazy with the mailshots and it has sort of gone bonkers, a very strong response, more than expected... I'm flat out at the moment, November is pretty much sorted without the "organic" enquiries.  I'm predicting Christmas shopping on eBay again for me this year!

Is it definately the gearbox , not the linkage on top of it or the gearchange cables?  Gearbox failure would probably be uneconomic to repair.

Oh it's the gearbox ok. All the linkages into the gb were working just nothing happening on the output side.
At the garage they found a big hole in the casing so I'm guessing something exploded out as opposed to something breaking in. Anyway rather than having the garage using up hours in stripping it down in the hope they can rebuild it, I've ordered one from an on line breakers for £300 and the garage can just fit that.

I've spent a week away salmon fishing so didn't book anything in. But I've had to cut the break short as I've had 2 urgent jobs for Friday and 2 other jobs over the weekend. I've decided that the phone always seems to go quiet when there's a half term so that's why I'm up here in Cumbria...

I could have passed the work on, but they need their ovens done too... Ah well, I wasn't catching any fish anyway... :D

Been fairly busy here till this week when I had a full weeks work booked in and I have had no less than 3 cancellations in 2 days.
1st one yesterday 1 mile away from the job that was 12 miles away saying she thought it was tomorrow so was just cancelling today. 2nd last night (Thursday job, at least this one gave me notice) to postpone and will ring when they ready. 3rd one this morning an hour b4 the job saying the builders haven't finished so no point at the moment, well I don't suppose they were finished last night either   >:(

And that after a run of bad luck with things going wrong equipment wise the last 2 weeks. 1. Vac on my spare machine. 2. Inline heater had water ingress. 3. Envirodri stopped working. Did the vac myself but the other 2 had to be sent for repair and all together had to fork out approx. £500 on repairs

And they say bad luck comes in "three's".........well theres proof.

My wipers stopped working 3 weeks ago, took the van in for what I thought would be a simple repair..........No chance,The wipers are run through a module not a motor.

£490 to get new module fitted by Citroen to get windscreen wipers to work!!!!!!
