Had one of those days today where you long for just a set of ladders again, and the onl thing you worried about was running out of scrims.
Hose constantly getting snagged (drives me bonkers) , problems with flow rate, filling the tanks and charging batteries etc, anyone else have a day like this where wfp just feels like a massive pain in the ass?

I do get tricky days but not usually due to WFP.  I did at first but you just tweak your methods as you go.  Of course I sometimes get hose snag but nowhere near as much as I did at first.

i find all the rigmarole alot easyer then picking up ladders and risking your life , today i had to walk back to my hose reel 3 times, during that time i could have cleaned the small front with ladders 2 times,

end of the day wfp is the way forward no ladders , not ever!

dont forget u can work in full on rain , winds, too and u are safe

i find all the rigmarole alot easyer then picking up ladders and risking your life , today i had to walk back to my hose reel 3 times, during that time i could have cleaned the small front with ladders 2 times,

end of the day wfp is the way forward no ladders , not ever!

Never doing my head in. Best thing I ever did is switch to wfp. Just accept it as part of the job. Most hose snags can be completely avoided if you pay attention to the usual areas where it can happen.

If you keep your hoses in good condition, they wont snag.

The reason why they start kinking and snagging is cos the slowly get twisted, as they twist they want to flip and turn causing the snag or kink.

Only way to stop the issue is every month or so fully unwind your hose, and lay it out, un twist any parts of the hose that seem to want to twist or turn on their own and wind back on the reel tightly pulling the hose down towards the floor through a rag or scrim, it will untwist any bits you missed, will roll back on the reel neater and wont cause you any issues.

Its particularly important that you do this more in the winter, as the cold weather makes the hose less pliable, and it can become more of a headache when it does kinck and snagg.

I always remember a mate of mine coming out with me not long after I started, and he saw me get annoyed with snagging hose, and why he said is now what I say to my staff when they get annoyed with it...

"if that's all you've got to worry about, then you should count yourself lucky!"

Have to say, from that moment on, I try to remember what he said, remembering what I used to do, and the stress and worry of that job, and it raises a smile every time.

how do you manage to twist a hose or to that kink it its beyond me imust be one of the most heavey handed windys out there never done it  if i get fed up using the hose i swap and use me back pack makes a change

i was referring more to it getting caught underneath gates, on sticks, plant beds etc.  Much better day today. 
Its always easier to focus on how things could be better, rather than how things could be worse.  If we could all switch those two around the world would be a better place

If you use a professional liquid like Squeegee off, you've got nothing to worry about when it rains and you are trad. It's Fairy liquid that is the cause of spotting.  I've cleaned so many windows in the rain. French doors are culprits though because rain can splash back. All other windows should be fine, as long as it's not too windy and lashing airborne debris on the window. Working in the rain is a pain though, because your cloths get soaked, ladders are more likely to slip. With wfp it's a lot easier.

Also, rain is fairly pure when it falls down, it's what the wind picks up that makes it less pure. What happens is, if the rain mixes with the pure water on the window it's still pure enough. Even if half dry, the worst case scenario is that you get very fine bits of dust/pollen on the window. I haven't encountered horrible spotting in all the time I've been wfp. It works just fine in the rain.

Do you use a flow controller?  If so, there shouldn't ever be a problem with flow rate.  We use a two man system with two flow controllers; no problems ever once I set it up properly.

Filling the tank is easy - what's the problem there?

Charging the battery is easy - what's the problem there?

And after a few months WFP, you learn where's the best place to park, and the best way to get your hose to the desired destination; no problems - or not many anyway.

Ladders versus WFP is no competition; it's WFP every time.

tosh, i completely agree.  i live in a flat so charging the battery is difficult, and use a trolley so filling the barrels can be a pain.  i know well that wfp far out ways the ladders, but as i said, i was just having one of those stroppy days.
ive learned my lesson!!!!!
