I think maybe you are being a bit harsh with the guy, sometimes if you are panicking about something, you do tend to come over a bit on the robotic side and forget your manners
many thanks
say sorry to him or i shall get my big stick out

Risk assesment is not a piece of paper to be copied. It is an attitude to analysing what you do. Identifying the potential to do you or somone else harm, reducing that risk accordingly and documenting it properly. I would advise you to contact the local HSE or Chamber of Commerce who will advise you on where you can undertake the appropriate course. Please do not take Risk assement lightly it is a requirement under H&S legislation, failure to comply is not an issue but failure to comply with the legislation in the event of an accident can lead to fines of £10,000 or more.

Here! Here!
It cannot be taken lightly, contact your local business link, to be found in you thompson local.
They will help with all aspects of of your new business but more importantly for, put you in touch with your local Health & Safety officer, who will be more than happy to help with H&S issues and with risk assesments. He doessn't only come in when things go wrong, he is also there to help make sure they don't go wrong in the first place.

He has to arrive!
Imagine it on the news, God forbid, Something goes wrong & you had previously asked for help and was denied, who's fault would it be? H&S are there to prevent accidents. Don't be frightened to open the door to them

If this guy ends up on the news and his defence is he asked for help regarding H & S on an internet forum and didn't get any because he was rude, I might well end up dieing of laughter.
I do take H & S very seriously, but whats your point, are you selling anything or do you have an interest in H&S other than your own business.
Don't see you rushing to help him :

I've put a previous post on, here............
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13589.0
Take a look and you will find some useful stuff.
If you also go to our own website you will find some sample Risk Assessments to look at on the 'Health and Safety' section.

I don't think we will hear from the original poster on this thread (Ken??) Its a shame really, so hopefully he will look at the post that CMS has mentioned, and find it helpful. May hear from them on another posting.
You lot are a 'orrible bunch.......

As a fellow newbie I'll say "thank You, CMS" on Ken's behalf.
Unless you've read through the archives and gotten a feel for the forum, you can forget that you're 'talking' to real people and not just typing keywords into a search engine.
Stick around Ken, it wasn't such a bad initiation after all.

Well I seem to have stirred up a real risk assessment nest, and heres me thinking that cleaning stopped you from being oversensitive. It has raised some very important issues and I am extremely grateful for all the positive and constructive information that most of you responded with. This has highlighted the purpose of the site to raise important issues and to offer help and support in a sometimes demanding industry. We all want to make a success of our businesses and knowing about and complying with health and safety will help us do that.
Once again many thanks for all the replys good and not so good it has been fun Ken h
