Gardiner Pole Systems SL-X 25ft - 3,5 years on.
« on: October 20, 2011, 03:49:16 pm »
Since CIU can't do hotlinking of images, I made a quick site in google sites to show the wear pattern on the mark 1 SL-X, which I purchased 3,5 years ago. I've been working with this pole every working day and on almost 100% of my residential work.

Totally agree with you Tim.

I also have a MKI slx, I think it's 4 years old & I have just retired it. It got used & abused daily for all that time. Unbelievably, it still works fine but the last 6 inches of No-1 section has worn so that it doesn't clamp up tight enough anymore. It revolutionised me & has more than earned it's crust many, many times over.

I have treat myself to a new one, which, is even better!! ;D ;D

Sounds great!

But,  unless it's a prototype it can't be 4 years old. The first delivery was I believe in early april 2008. I pre-ordered mine January 2008, and after a small delay of the factory it came april 2008 I believe.

Just checked my emails and it was definitely April 2008. :)

How would you say the new one is better? Lighter, more rigid?

I'm guessing it's age, so you will be right. Newer one is lighter, as rigid & has a thinner base section. It's also cheaper now than they used to be!! can't lose! ;D

Absalutly agree with you Tim. I had one the same age and only retired it about 5 months ago when the Xtreme came out, I didn't really retire it, gave it to my dad and it's still going strong. Again it gets used regularly but so gets looked after. It was well worth the £400 spent.

Interestingly I've been wfp coming 5 years, in the first 18onths I got thru 1 Universal 1 extel(extender) 1 xtel 1 hxte. After 3 1/2 years the slx25 is still better looking than they were before they gave up.

Simon.

Still got my original slx, although I've put a couple of new sections on it, my lad uses it as I got myself a newer one, which is lighter, and the base section isn't as big as the first one.

Ah gotcha. Sounds pretty good looking at the specs. I guess time will tell how well these do in the wear department. :)

Simon.

I guess if you add the other poles up you'd probably spend more on the other poles then the SL-X. That's quite interesting.
