can i ask if anyone can tell me which machine they think does a better job, hopefully somone would of owned both

iam looking for quality of cleaning
drying time of carpets
ease of use
any comments would be greatlly appreciated

cant comment on the best machine as iv only owned the extracta,

but i think from what i read on here most would agree extracta has much better after sales and customer service back up than the ninga guys, i do belive the ninga offers a lot more options though.
all my customers have allways been happy with the results iv achieved with the extracta, but its not just your machine its also down to training and chemicalls.
i personally use the alltec range of chemicalls and the scrubba delux powerbrush with my extracta xl.

good thing about ashbys ninja is u can build machine to your own spec   , u can hav 100psi pump up to a 400psi,u can hav 2 stage vacs ,3 stage vacs or heavy duty 3 stage vacs, inline v2 heater adjustable, inline fixed temp,  tank heaters fixed heat or adj,auto fill and auto dump options, auto chem, vac silenters, vac boost lids, upto 50ft elec cords ,dry vac options bag and filter free,also an extra power socket on machine to plug in a power wand etc and soon a add on third vac which is a 7.2 3 stage vac which clips to back of machine,so far i hav had nothing but great service

perhaps Hollywood should make a cartoon of different HWE extractors then they could do batttle in a great big arena on a distant planet, then we'd know who the real champion is!

 the Ninja might have a bit of a hard name but I think the Fibre glass body of the Extracta could take on any Roto-moulded machine, especially if it use a Scrubba- delux as a weapon (them things weigh a ton!!)

it would be a bit like Robo-Wars that was on Channel 4, My money would be on the Bane portable. a Half ton of Bad ass  killing machine ( well it killed my back every time I tried to get it out of the van!)

To be honest in their stock offerings their really the same but I prefer the plastic bodies as their more forgiving.

However with the Ninja you can upgrade it to have a 400psi pump which is a must, heavy duty vacs which give a bit more vac power and autofill.  Thats all you need.

I own a Ninja and also owned an Alltec machine which is really the same as the Extracta.

Have no knowledge of the extracta machines! Only own a Ninja/TM both very good machines, it’s the person behind it that holds the key!

had demo of the fully loaded ninja today
and it beats my extracta excell hands down on all counts

4 times the pump pressure
slightly more vac power, and the option to add a third vac wich gives a lot more power, adds another lead though
loads and loads more heat
the wand is a thousand times better than the extracta
and you can add auto fill and dump if you want so can be left on the van most of the time

i didnt see anything at ashbys that imo, compares to my extracta hide a hose hand tool, or my extracta scrubba deluxe power brush, i am seriously thinking to upgrade to a ninja but would like to keep both of these tools.

does anyone know what adjustments i will have to make to these tools to handle the extra heat and pressure?

The extracta hide a hose tools were good, but used to get blocked a lot with fluff when going around carpet edges. I stripped min'e down many times to repair them. I still use the small one for upholstery when using the portable when i need to.

The prochem one i bought with the tm is better though as it has a soft coupling that you can split as well as a solution pipe release coupling. It is a pity extracta didn't adopt this.

Hi Dave,
I make you right iv had the same problems with fluff from time to time.
I like the clear window and the brush for agitation though, and they are built to last mine had taking a good battering before i brought it and iv lost count of the ammount of times iv dropped it etc and its still going strong.

I run an Extracta Excell and think its a great piece of Kit, I have often wondered though on the hide a hose tools, you lose the temp slightly as the hose runs throuhgh the vac pipe and it cools the cleaning solution, or is it me? kind regards Phil

yep looses virtually all the heat unless your working flat out.
Ashbys do one and there solution hose is heat shrouded inside the vac hose and this is meant to stop the loss of heat, dont like it myself though as i like the brush and window of the extracta.

Asbys reckon they can prob adapt my extracta to work with theres without loosing the heat if i get the ninja.

Ps, i thought my Extracta was a great piece of kit untill i tried the ninja yesterday, the ninja really is a lot more powerfull and comes with so many options

The Ninja is great.

Make sure you get the steam mate and a powerbrush and you will be all set.  I run mine with 75 foot of hose and it works great.

i have had both, the ninja by far the best portable i have used over the past 17 years, i had a new top spec built and it realy knocks the socks off extracta and altecs, but as with any machine you need to be using it correctly with the right chems

Ashbys are near us and always gave us a good service,we have the sensi
which for its size packs a mean punch we to may well be going to a ninja,the sensi is a smaller model it does make it easy to carry up stairs,we do use a 25ft hose,but the ninja is far better machine,for around £2300 its a good bit of kit

i run a exel machine find them good, about heat loss at the tool end,
on the , smaller models that extracta do (the solvent/ hwe machines) they have
a variable bleed back tube that returns solution back to the tank,so maintaining a constant hot flow to the tool.
hot solution where you need it, especially with upholstry. heaven knows why they have not adapted this to the larger machines.
