Hi Rob,
Don't know how much help i can be to you as i am a novice myself. I'm sure there are many guys on here more qualified to help you.
However, if your just not sure whether to start or not, then ask yourself the question " what did people say to you when you told them you were going into sales for the first time"
I did about 6 years in direct sales. I find this so much easier.
People are actually wanting me to come to their house!
After calling me!!
And paying me for a service that they are pleased with!!!
With no cancellation period!!!!

Having the ability to chat to people on their level and to "make a friend", seems to make the carpet cleaning secondary.
( so long as you can do a good cleaning job)
However, i'm trying to ensure that I get the best training I can, and to learn as much as I can to ensure the customer is happy with the work completed, and would like me to come back at future date.
You'll still be in sales, but I think you will find it more rewarding. You know how to do a warm-up, you know how to get referrals....You know how to be "enthusiastic" you know how to be in front of the customer..
Now tie all that in with a service that people actually want.....You create a "WOW" factor for yourself.
I was gonna fill in with all the sales cliche's...but you know the score..........

All the best to you and your wife.
Tony
