We do not sell 'Rectus' brand fittings any more as we became dissatisfied with their longevity and operation. We now sell a quality brand that we are happier with, they have a slightly different design end to the fitting which has proved to be more robust in our use.

What we have been informed of is that with all brands of female series 21 fittings, users can seriously affect the performance of the female fitting by not changing the male fitting at the same time as replacing the female. A damaged or worn male plug can damage the female fitting and cause it to fail in a very short time if it is used. It can even lead to complete malfunction of the female fitting by locking it in the open position - this can be sorted by forcing the collar back down and then using with a new (undamaged male).

I never knew that, bad news for the old trigger assembly! I've actually had this happen before, it jamming open. Isn't this to to with the rubber O ring that's inside rather then the metal bits?

A worn or damaged male fitting can easily damage both the rubber seal and the ball-bearing and locking ring mechanism. According to the manufacturers it is always recommended when replacing the female to replace with a new male at the same time.

Never even checked what make my easysnap fittings were - I did notice they don't have the circlip on the end anymore.

I always used retus 21 but they all had a limited life span and 2 years ago.My order was sent wrong and I received retus 19,well they were a lot better and have lasted 2 years with not one brake down.Do you yourself a favour.

When you say worn, what exactly do you mean? Rough edges? I can understand they wear when on the ground, but on a trigger there should be very little wear if any? Too cold outside so will have a look in the morning.

I've been having a problem with my pro fittings from gardiners not shutting off, and I think this must be the problem, you can see the difference between a new and old male fitting, the end is slightly worn and rounded, will have to replace it.
