gutter cleaning pole info please? - clarke vac
« on: October 14, 2011, 11:42:05 am »
we are using nicks clarke gutter vac and yes its a good bit of kit for the money for doing houses and only use a ladder just to check the before and after properly - its never missed a single bit so far!

problem is we have built up a little round out of just gutter cleaning and using the 5 alloy poles from gutter cleaning systems all day is a back killer!! - the poles are great for the first 3 - 4 houses but by the 6 - 7 house in one day its hard work on the arms and back.

so im looking for a good light weight gutter cleaning pole that would fit the current clarke gutter vac pipe we are using.

You don't have much choice really if you want lighter then its carbon fibre poles but at a price, on nats forum in the gutter section there is a link to some carbon fibre ones, basically modified sl2s. Or you could just buy a couple hundred helium balloons and tie them to the top   ;D ok I'm getting silly now.

We use aluminium TV ariel poles they are scarfed (think thats how you spell it) so they fit inside each other, they are about 5 foot long very light and work well

These are pretty much what we've all got. They are relatively light (about 1kg a pole) but after playing at Darth Vader with them for 8 hours they get a little tiring. Arms and back suffer most.

WC Sols you say 5 poles. Are most of your cleans at 25ft? Most house cleans for me are at 15ft which is much more manageable. I did a church inside roof clean recently which was a full day at 20-30ft and I was really glad that I'd brought my team of eight female physiotherapists with me at the end of it  ;D

Having said that if you're doing 40 house gutter cleans a week then you can afford CF, and probably gold-plated at that  ;)  RWC has posted the link.
