Hi Guys

I am going to expand my dry carpet cleaning side.

I am thinking of buying a Flexi 5, how do you rate these or is there a better system?

I alrady have the Texatherm heated rotary system and my own Dry 60 system which is a variation.

Off pace?

Not really, I only got a karcher as it was cheap to hire, portable and will cover while my Dry machine is being repaired and that's all.

In Brighton we are mostly flats, converted mainly, so I need a machine that is light, portable and quick to use. It is impractical to have a Prochem galaxy or Ninja as they weigh too much to physically carry up 6-7 flights of stairs with the last set so steep you'd need a mountaineering qualification to climb, that's another reason I chose the EnviroDri, it's tough, portable excellent cleaning, quick drying.

To be honest I should have a wet cleaner as well as no system is 'Jesus in a bottle' and we all come across carpets that we can't get stains off.

I have used the Host system with great effect on domestics, customers love it carpets ready to use and you can charge a premium for the service.It was some years ago and there wasn't many dry only about at the time.Still get them ringing now asking for the dry clean. It works better on some carpets than others but that's where your experience comes into deciding the best route to take dry clean(host),low moisture(dry fusion) or hwe.

If using host system always explain that they will see sponges in their carpet as you never get it all out in the first go then they can vac it up in their normal vacuuming routine

We all know it's not as effective as hwe but we need to tailor our services to our customers needs.

I still have a few containers of Envirodri sponges (unopenened) i gave up on them the results are ok but on some carpets usually the very dark coloured ones you can spend all day vacuuming them to get all the sponges out.
The last straw was a through lounge i did spent over an hour with the vacuum the customer was not happy with the result so i HWE it and it came up much better not used it since. if someone wants the sponges i have not used you can have a big discount

I also sold my gen 4 machine as it kept cracking  went back three times and was never sorted.  i now have a host reliant for agitation which is great ideal for domestics its a little smaller than the gen 4 and lighter

You dont need to use sponges just an encap product much easier and no endless vacuuming afterwards.

Ian, not sure what your question has to do with my post above it?

But if a house like Zoe came along I would borrow a prochem from a mate (a prochem) and book the job in when his machine was free.

Yet again I will explain that to borrow his machine for a week, hire a prochem Machine (not that you can) or a truckmount was impractical space & Cost wise.

What is it about those issue do people on this forum not understand, do I need to put it is capitals for those who need glasses or explain it like a 'See Spot Run' Childrens book?

I also have an Envirodri Gen 4, Cracked and fallen to bits within 2 years, is the Plastic cost effective to replace, or is it a case of buying a Host.

Tony i have the Gen 3 Machine and it's metal, 8 years now and only just this minute gone in to be repaired for the 2nd time in all that time.

Don't really like the Gen 4, find the Gen 3 much more user friendly.

I have the Flexi 5 but never used it to do dry compound cleaning. As a pile lifter it is fabulous and would make it idea for vaccing up sponges. It is also a brilliant agitation unit. Only downside is it is a little heavy.
