so what do you all use on your carbon fiber poles for cleaning them and lubricating them?

any opinions welcome

I strip mine down wash all sections down with a hose, when dry, I wipe each section with a dry cloth then spray with furniture polish. The recommended spray is PTFE spray, but tesco cheap polish is a lot cheaper.

Don't spray the sections with polish indoors over laminate flooring, it results in a vey slippery serface and you slipping over and landing on your arse! Not that I did this of course

PTFE spray from www.screwfix.com   or www.toolstation.com they both have stores all over the country its costs about £3:00

Wynns silicone spray from a motor factors makes them slide a treat.

i use the stuff fly fishermen use to waterproof the line very good lasts ages not cheap about 2quid and cmes in a pocket size container

Be careful which PTFE lubricant you buy as I think the Screwfix one - http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-ptfe-spray-lubricant-400ml/80487?_requestid=595266#product_additional_details_container - is an oil based lubricant (similar to GT85) and is not advisable for use on composite materials. If used repeatedly the penetrating components in the oil can break down the composite make-up of the carbon and could lead to structure failure. It also can penetrate and lead to glue failure.

The PTFE lubricant we recommend is called 'Dry-Film PTFE spray' and has no oil in it. This does not lubricate with an oil, but rather applies a thin 'dry' coating of pure PTFE to the pole section. This prevents dirt sticking and helps reduce wear.

I use the one from www.toolstation.com   which is the dry PTFE .  MIKE

i wash the pole down with water once a month by directing a hose through the base section for a minute or two with the sections opened by a foot and use PTFE spray occasionally although i find the slx is very smooth when extending and collapsing anyway.cleaning the pole hose with a wet wipe/cloth every so often helps stop too much grit getting inside the pole as well.

Just to follow up from Alex G - be aware that some of these PTFE sprays contain a oil for penetration into joints etc..
i tested a PTFE spray before use and it didn't dry at all - leaving a gooey residue.

i use a unipart dry ptfe spray for lubrication and use on electrical components which is excellent

got ptfe spray but dont use it,hose down slx now and again but dont usually bother.id rather just replace when i need to its only £300,but if you can be bothered its a good pole so look after it.
