« on: October 03, 2011, 08:25:12 pm »
Just thinking of the  coming months

If i used hot water from my house (i have a combi boiler) sent it though di vessel i think it would take about 30 minutes to fill 200lts  if the tank was lagged it would stay warm for a morning so i could fill up in the morning is this stupid idea

Great ;D ;D So if this works almost everybody can have hot water this winter you could also use a mains shower  you could put this almost anywhere and i think by the time you run out of 200 lt of water it is time to go home for a cuppa and warm up while filling up again lol

you could do it at night and put a heater in the van to keep it warm.

Hot water will kill your resin. That's why ionics Thermopure makes the water first. Carbon, Sediment, Softener, RO, Ro- Back then finally Resin. The hot water is heated through the webstro and doesn't go through resin.

maybe really hot water will kill resin but, water out of his combi boiler won't, just check the resin sacks it has operating temps on it

I done it many times last year. It looses a hell of a lot of heat going along the hose just getting to the van though. I fitted a 3000kw element in the tank to re heat it up after it was in the tank and it worked well enough to make me money. It stays warm mostly till early afternoon, I had no insulation on the tank either, so it is well worth doing. It does use up more resin I guess but I can't say I noticed. I am in a soft water area though.

What about sticking a small stainless steel raiator inside the tank, and plumbing the radiater onto the vans cooling system from the engine. The hot water from the engine will keep the tank warm!

Where do you get these heating elements from? Are they mains powered or of the van?

Im thinking of running a hose out to van from hot water feed , but is it really necessary, if you have a hot water element wont cold water be fine , or will the hose freeze on way to van?
