if its a 100 per cent wool rug,pre spray exract with warm water and an acid rinse, dry quickly if poss ,job done
cant see why every one is scaremainering
GaryBristowclean

Scaremainering? Offering advice? Call it what you want. I have seen many ruined rugs by people with rug doctors or by employing a crap carpet cleaner...

If it's an IKEA special and you ruin it, you'll owe them their money back and £50 for a new one. If it's a £3K Chinese rug, you're better off knowing your limitations...

Will you bail him out if he messes this job up, Garry?

Thought not....

Im gonna go for it aslong as it aint something well expensive il post some pics of the rug when i pick it up on thursday. Im gonna rinse with prochem fibre an fabric. But to prespray with im not sure this is what ive got in my kit ultrapac renovate, ashbys supreme shampoo, powerburst so which one do you think would be safest bet for a creme wool rug

PSB... Pre Spray Gold, Just to be safe. UPR (Ultrapac Renovate) is great on sooty carpets, but like PB (Power Burst), it has a very high Ph.

As you are Acid Rinsing, it wouldn't be too much of a problem if the state of the rug warranted the use of high PH chemicals... But Go easy on the pre spray, do not over wet and agitate well. Plenty of dry passing too and utilise your air blower if you have one.

All the best fella, I'm sure you'll wonder what all the fuss was about, but not all of us like to see people make mistakes... :)

Sounds like a wind up to me. Suggesting all the high ph stuff.

And to the person suggesting a wool rug is a wool rug well that's easy to say when someone else will own it if it goes wrong.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Ok here's a safe plan of action, anti grease, supreme powder all high ph, so use your shampoo which is ph neutral. mix it in a bucket and agitate the solution to make foam, then apply foam to rug with a soft upholstery brush. Rinse off with a 50 deg solution of F/F. plenty of dry strokes groom pile and dry. Should look the dogs.

Good luck

It turned out really good and the woman gave me £60 which is a tenner up on what i asked for. She even sent a txt to my mrs because my girlfriend saying she was really pleased with the rug and she will be recommending me to her friends. Im well chuffed.

Glad it worked out.

The whole idea of this forum for me is for guys trying to help each other.
This does involve warning others of potential dangers pitfalls... as for standard stuff its a rug never std stuff ??? Gary if it all went 'pear shaped' i wonder if you would of posted on this subject!!

Do a search under 'problem rug' that was my post NEXT rug std stuff.. I learnt the hardway.
