I was told to expect about 3 months work.  Good paying work, like shops or businesses can go for more than that, but i think between 2 and 4 times is about right, depending on how long the round has been going, and how well it is priced.  But im a comparative new boy at 8 years, sure there are plenty of old timers on here.  Like Roy Harding......if he can still get out of bed in the morning at his age!  ;D

We follow a formula.

We take the whole yearly turnover of the work, divide that by 12 and times by 3.5.

So for example if you are selling a round that turned over £12000 per per anum during your last finanical year the formula would be:

£12,000/12*3.5= £3,500

some more examples:

£50,000/12*3.5= £14,583

£100,000/12*3.5=£29,166

In the current climate well priced rounds are worth between 6 and 10 times monthly income.

You have to market it right i.e advertising it in the best places ( windowcleaning resources is good ).

I agree, however when we buy up work we stick to our 3.5 times offer as its the most suitable and enables us to get return on our outlay quicker. And to pay 6 times is simply not attactive enough.

If you were selling the business as a whole, ie all vans eipment, branding, website, databse system, phone numbers the whole shabang then I would say 2 times the yearly income with 3 years accounting proof of income/expenses. Which is what any business would be valued on and sold for.

does it not differ to location? I have looked for rounds to buy and the way they differ astonishes me to be honest, with some people wating 3200 for a 200 quid a month job
