Gardiners sill brush........ disappointed
« on: October 01, 2011, 08:26:44 am »
I waited ages for the sill brush to be launched but have to say I am not as pleased as I thought I would be.
Although I think it’s a good brush from a working point of view, ie shape, size and weight. I am less than happy with the way its lasting.
I have 3 on the go daily and they are all falling apart. In a little over a month they are worn to a point where I need to consider replacing them soon.
The problem is the bristles just don’t stay in. On almost every job I lose a bristle as it get trapped in a corner of a frame and is pulled out.
The hilt on the brush is just too narrow which means there is not enough fixing to hold the bristles in place.
The other thing I don’t like much is the angle of the jets, they spray upwards meaning it’s very easy to give the vents a blast unintentionally.
Shame really as it had the potential of being a great new product.

u need to change the angle adapter for the jets to point in the right direction,  i cant choose between the cill and the extreme wide,  i think if there was a cill brush the same size as the extreme wide, it would be great

I still thing the supalight DT flocked and mono are the best brushes. they clean the best are pleanty light enough and they last well.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

Regarding the angle of the jets, it's because you have the angle adapter set at the wrong angle. I also found that the when the brush is set at the right angle, it doesn't look right because the extra bristles for the sills give the illusion that the brush should be set at a diffent angle, but if you could imagine that the bottom 3 rows of bristles went there, or that they don't need to come into contact with the glass, then you will be able to see why the brush angle needs to be lower than you have it set.

Also what version have you got, black or White. I have been using the White dual tri. For slot of first cleans and it still looks good, I decided not to got for the black, because although I like the feel of the bristles on the black extreme, they just army up for long term use, I sent back my first black extreme because it just looked awful after a weeks work, but I ended up buying another one for certain jobs, old leaded and a few georgian windows, but because it's not getting regular use it will last.

If you have the black version, I would recommend the White, I feels like it's cleans better than the White extreme because of the dual trim, but the bristles can take more of a hammering than the black.

i agree lee.the supalite dt flocked is the best gardiner brush by a mile IMO.been using mine for 8 months practically every day and its not lost its shape or many bristles.

the mono is great too.i use it for conny roof/fascia cleans.

the supalite soft extreme is weedy and bristles wear very quickly.not tried a radius sill.dont think ill bother as a prefer the soft bristles for regular maintenance cleans and judging by some of the pics on here of these brushes after a few days use is laughable really.sorry gardiners but i think you ve got it wrong on these particular brushes at the moment!!

Funny how everyone is different. There's no way I'd use a mono for a conservatory roof.
I love the black extreme - looks like an old toilet brush though.
Can't get on with the white  extreme - just too stiff for me.

You do the cills?  I just give them a cursory wipe side to side and move on.
