Evening crew.

I have just completed the first month of employing a lad, where he works a maxium of 16 hours a week.
My accountant has just charged me £21.60 to send me his pay slip.

Someone told me earlier that as he is only on a part time contract (max 16 per week) that this is not nesserary??

Also, with regards to accountancy, what do you guys pay yearly, I think im being ripped off at £450 a year. (or thats what ive been told)

no idea on the fees but the lad is entitled to a payslip, I used to do it my self

Ive been told of a program called 'sage' where i can do it myself as opposed to paying her for it, but guess the program costs a bit in the frist place.

I just used the free programme the inland revenue sent me to work it out and hand did the payslip on a pad from the stationery shop

Do it on line yourself. HMRC site and follow instructions.
All you have to do is key in the details confirm and hey presto the information is recorded and you can just print this screen to use as a payslip.It tells you, you can so why not....  £21.60 to do a payslip, when it takes what 5 minutes to do it this way? Your accountant isn't the mug here , but then I guess you asked for it to be done.

Why do you think you are being ripped off by the accountant? What have you been told by someone else?

£450.00 is an ok figure, but dependant on what sort of set up you have.
If the accountant takes 10 hours to do your figures etc £45p/hr is a good hourly rate for accountancy.

Just been told that £450 is quite expensive compared to what they are paying but I guess every one is diffrent.

why not call a few  accountants and get an idea of there cost to compare with yours, also good idea to pay through bank etc as you dont have to keep money in house ready to pay them, also use IR free site,

as a guide i pay £3 for a payslip,so he get one a month and that still £3

Just re read the letter and yeah my bad it says for september there is no nic to pay.
Any idea how much I may have to pay Stuart?
