My tip for Gardiners clamps
« on: September 30, 2011, 07:16:25 am »
Hi all,

Have had my CLX-18 for over 12 months now and never had an issue with the clamps needed to be re-glued.

When i first got the pole, i noticed that when lowering the pole that if you were not very carefull that the clamps would slightly bang together. So to prevent this happening, i wrapped about 4-6 wraps of electrical tape around the pole where the clamps meet each other to give them some protection or a buffer as i like to call it.

Anyway .... here is a picture of how my clamps are now. You can see that the clamps have squashed up the electrical tape, but still provide that buffer to protect them.

Could help my fellow windys, so here you are sirs

m8 what have you been doing with your pole? That is proper battered.
I know what your saying but you don't need to let the sections band together when collapsing. I angle the pole and use my other hand to control how fast my 25' slx collapses.

Not a great pic and to be completley honest i havent really looked after the pole other than putting the tape on and replacing a butt cap.

1 year on its still going as strang as the day i got it, no clamp issuses of any kind and i have had to adjust the clamps twice in the past year !

This pole does 90% of my window cleaning work aswell as fascia cleans and conny roofs. £85 + vat for this baby and she is still going strong (and will do for a few more years i reckon)

Thermoclean ... why buy an elite when this is going stong even a year on ?

Lee ... only used red cos my bro in law gave it to me ... would have been white cos thats all i had at the time

hi blue frog

been looking into replacing the clamps on my slx 30 but not 100% sure which parts to replace, did you replace just the levers or did you actually replace the clamp bodies as well if you did replace the clamp bodies did you have to glue them and if you didnt replace the clamp bodies was replacing the levers enough to stop the pole from sticking in places, had my pole for over 18 months now just needs a bit of tlc.

cheers

Not had to replace anything ... what you see is a 100% original clx 18 as it got delivered to me from gardiners - with a little tape added
