Hi , Just won a tender for cleaning 320 holiday caravans does not start until feb 2012 but still a very nice start for the new year very happy . The reason i have put this on as a new topic is does anybody know of the cheapest way to produce  water i am going with 500 lt of water then i am going to use a di for the rest not sure how much i am going to use a day but a lot so would it be a good idea to invest in something .

Caravans get cleaned once a year  , I have to clear guttering ,roofs on a few ,windows and bodys and some have got a plastic skirts .

A very good question but when i put a tender in they asked for pure water i do not know if they are going to watch me as what you said would work just as good but i can not take the chance there is a chance of 3 more sites if i get this right so i am going to stick to what i quoted  .

The person (retired bad health) who cleaned these before only used pure water and that is how the company wanted to carry on because there custys were happy .I agree with you  with the pressure washer but it can not be done yet hopefully i will carry on and will be able to change there minds over  the coming years .

No time limit  , I  think it  will take me 40 mins a caravan and i think i will have to get 4 people involved what do you think

Could you take seperate containers? One pure one tap water?

What system do you have? If you have a van setup, fill the tank with tap water, get a back pack and a few barrels and wash down with pure after.

I do alot of caravans mate and they are hard work, unless theres a few of you (i know you said 4) then you wont get one done in 40 mins. I did 6 in one day on my own once, i was shattered after and im young.

If you did have a team id get them to do it like this, just my opinion.

1st man do gutters
2nd pre soak van in wash and wax, i use a weed sprayer and spray them before i wash them, makes it that little bit easier...and looks good to the customer lol
3rd wash the van with tap water and wfp
4th wash down with pure from backpack/trolley

Then move on like that, swapping over day to day. 320 vans...your gonna be there a looooong time, not to put you off, just letting you know what your getting yourself in for Id say on a good rate youd get 15 maybe 20 done a day. You may aswel write a month off any other work.

Quite easy.
Get yourself a Twin 4040 RO system preferably a 1000 ltr water tank, but if you have only 500 litres, add a 12 volt booster pump, and fill up your system as you work, there should be plenty of outdoor taps on a caravan site.
The twin RO's will produce pure water quite quickly.
Our sysyem is a 1000 ltr twin RO - twin pumps (each has its own battery) - two men use all the water in about 4-5 hours, however we often fill on site and never run out of water - working all day without problem.
We also have a seperate DI tank - in order to fast fill - if and when needed.

I think i like the idea of one tank of tap water first to wash down then all the caravan pure after  should save loads of water  and who would know?

Do not pressure wash them. Pressure washing will break down the seals and cause all sorts of damage.
Also you need to make sure the site has maintained the caravans properly with regards to seals etc, otherwise you may get leakage inside!
