CLX Loose Clamp
« on: September 27, 2011, 06:33:15 pm »
My clamp for first section came loose today on my clx

What do you do to sort it out? Contact gradiners or glue it

What glue and how do you fix it

Ive had the pole about 4-5 months but it only gets used about one week a month

Ive sussed the problem i think with the clamps coming off. I've had my clx18 over a year now and never had a clamp issue ... maybe because i protected the clamps from day 1

I had my clams loose few times.
phoned gardiner, they have sent a glue next day with a special tissue to clean it up before glueing it.

I normal use aroldite, but today one of my clamps came lose, I mentioned this to a mate of mine who is a sign writter and he have me this superglue that I put on the clamp and a spray that I sprayed on the pole, pushed together and it was solid within 30 seconds, tried really hard to pull the clamp of as I couldnt believe how quick and solid it was, he said you can get this stuff from screw fix.

Yer something like this

http://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-mitre-adhesive-200ml/41795

Seriously strong stuff, and a lot quicker drying then aruldite.

Forget your glue.

Use different sized jubilee clips. Thats what i do not shifted for about 6 months.

I'm sure they could Daz, but i see another problem if they are that good that they don't come off? If you ever broke or worn out one and it was on that good then you'd have to saw a part of your pole off to renew/replace the clamp. I think out of about 7 poles we've had from them we've  had a handful of clamps spin.
I think once you grasp it might happen and have some tape to get you through a day with one spinning then re glueing it is not a major problem. Put it this way, i'd rather re glue every so often than lose a section of pole due to not being able to get the clamp off if i needed to renew it.
