well that was nice
« on: September 21, 2011, 07:38:22 am »
So i get a call off a friend yesterday saying someone was cleaning one of my hotels, odd i thought so i called and asked whats going on "yes we're trying them out and will let you know"

They have said nothing to me, never complained, always been pleasant, ive run around for them doing extra cleans if they needed for weddings etc. I know theres no loyalty with commercial work but woulda of been nice to at least let me know. It was due today so glad i didnt waste a journey going there!

If they do ring back, which i doubt they will ill just decline saying i cant be messed about.

Nice

Pay the hotel a visit for a coffee or something and smear little dabs of grease in the bottom corners of loads of windows; upstair windows if you can get to them.

That'll teach the blighters.  ;D

Personally, knowing that you were due to do it the next day, I would not have phoned them and turned up and started cleaning. After all if your mate had not seen the "others" you would not have known. :)
If they had come out and stopped you, you could have referred them to your written agreement and still invoiced them.
If they didn't stop you, you could have just invoiced as normal.
Of course if you have no agreement in writing, which is unusual on commercial work, then although ignorant of them not to inform you, there is probably no comeback for you.

A written agreement/contract, can be broken as easily as not having one, but at least it does give you some weight especially if you have cancellation terms within :)

No in hind sight i shouldnt of rang but just wanted to know whats going on. Its not unusual to not have a contract, and I dont have a contract, never have, been doing this 12 years now and never needed one. I realy dont care to be honest you win some you loose some...just nice to know!

Agree Andy, and Ian no its not just a local hotel.
