I wonder if any of you have had this experience.
I'd always put up my prices  every year without fail. 
But last year I lost over a 1000 pounds of work in the space of about 4 months (just three jobs) and it made me cautious and now...

I've just realised I haven't put up prices in nearly 2 years 

Time to get out my worklist and a pencil

I think a good rule of thumb is can you afford to lose work ?

For domestic work, a £1 increase, every two years, on every £10(ish) worth of work equates to very little work lost.

That's what made me cautious I guess. Things have picked up more now

do you mean a £1000 of work A YEAR?or is that the sum of the 3 jobs cleaned once?if so you are greedy git who deserves to lose the work for trying to milk  more money out of them!!!your only a window cleaner!!!!

I would be very careful as this winter is defo gonna the worse one yet regards to the recession as all the cuts will kick in and what with the gas price hike,  people are gonne be looking for ways of tightening their money belts and whos usually at the top of the list   WINDOW CLEANERS

I dunno, mate; people have been saying this for years on this forum; the credit crunch has been going for quite a while now.

Nothing bad has happened so far.

I think if you've got a good mix of domestic and commercial (i.e. not all your eggs in one basket), with a bit of a surplus of work - then we'll be fine.

if they are so tight your gonna get cut then i dont think it matters if you are charging 9 - 10 quid , stick your quids on and that will offset the lost work always

If you lost a grands worth id say you were unlucky

I bought a round with big houses

Lost nearly £150 over only 3- 4 jobs , 2 moved  1 undercutter 1 lost
It happens but you pick em up again

The thing is if you miss an increase one year all it means is a double increase the year after.Try not increase prices when utilities have just gone up best time is after some good news or holiday time when people are more at ease.Or bonus time when folks feel secure.WE NEED TO KNOW OUR MARKET TO MAKE A WISE DECISION.

not increased prices for 2-3 years now....customers round here are feeling the pinch big time

countless redundancies etc....everyone is worried

Nah that was a month. Had two primarks I did one and subbed the other out. Got undercut by about 40-50%. The new guy does a poor job but I guess that's what they wanted. Can't complain too much had it for 6 years.

Got a more varied worklist now.
