Connectors to Hose Reel
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:06:48 pm »
I understand it is a boring subject, and that it must have been covered before, but this is a specific request rather than recommendations.

The connector from my pump to my hose reel is a miscellaneous connector (Hozelock are too expensive for the same and I was told to stay away from brass fittings) which on a good day may drip a little with the motion of the reel going round and on a bad day really starts to do my head in!!

The rubber seal on the reel seems okay and I know it hasn't always been the same as it seems to be, anyway I replaced the connector and it's still the same.

Wish I could put a jubilee clip onto the bare hose but then the reel wouldn't turn!

Thankfully a small problem, it's just annoying now we don't have the summer sun to dry out any spills in the back of the van.

The rubber o ring is worn and needs replacing. It is always the o ring. Take it off and compare it to a new one. The worn one will have a flat profile.

I will be into gardiners for one of those brass ones, I get through about one o ring every month at the moment so something needs to give.
if it is dirty it is fair game

Well that seems straight forward Andy thanks!

Will see how I go on this week with the hose re-adjusted a little tighter and tie-wrapped up.

The maddening thing is that about four weeks ago I emptied the van to help my mate take some masonary to the tip and the thing hasn't been right since.
