Hi,
One of my guys just wired up a brand new window cleaning warehouse digital flow controller into one of our new van setups and wired it all up before putting the inline fuses in.
Apparently resulted in a few seconds of smoke and now controller dead. Is this fatal? For the controller not the employee. Or repairable.
Cheers,

1st the bad news the control is dead. 1st I would ensure the it was wired correctly then always fit the fuse. Is it possible it was wired incorrectly? We do fit a diode to protect the control against reverse polarity so the control may be repairable, We would need the unit back to see if this is possible.
I would suggest return it to WCW for them to send back to us we will have a look if its is repairable we will advise of the cost before going ahead with the repair.
I would ask please always fit the fuse when installing these controls not fitting them is going to affect the warranty and replacing a fuse that costs pence beats spending £80+ on a new control.
Before you fit a new control Huw you may what to do a little diagnostics to try find where the power surge came from, I suspect the control was wired the wrong way round But it may be something else.
The control has a number of ways of protecting it self including a shut down if the current exceeds 7.5amps . But If there was a wiring issue the reverse polarity is going to cause a short on the board the current will continue to flow until it burns something as the short will bypass the shut down mechanism.
Morale of the story Please fir the Fuse.
Hope this is of some help.
