Reach height v actual length !
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:20:55 pm »
I have been looking at poles for sale on fleabay, and they use the term " reach height " instead of actually quoting the open length !           Surely this is confusing as not everyone is the same height !

Generally they cheat by adding at least 4ft to the actual length/height of the pole  ???

Clear vue i think is a member here so i'm sure will be along to justify the pole length

i wouldn't buy any pole with knowing the actual length -  as a short ar$e i bet i couldn't get that pole to reach 25 ft where dazmond could make it reach 28 ft  ;D

its because most of the manafacturers base the pole height from the waist and not the floor.

they do this because when using the pole its believed the safest way to use them is from waist height causing less strain on the shoulders and back.

lifting any weight above waist height for long periods will put strain on back and shoulders,     how many times have you done a fascia clean and ached afterwards ?    I'm as guilty as the next person for not doing this

same as picking something up from below the kness,  you are suppossed to bend the knees and keep your back straight to avoid putting pressure on the spine but how many of us do this ?

over reaching with a pole for long periods will put massive stress on the back and shoulders,  and if your doing this day in day out then eventually something will give regardless of how light vthe pole is.

I do think all suppliers should be quoting the actual length of their poles.I only use gardiners poles so no confusion as their all actual length.

I think brodex, ionics, wfp company all quote reach and not actual length.
price higher/work harder!
