I flippin' hope not. :o most dangerous if you have a shunt, also I would assume that your van insurance could be a bit iffy. Stainless steel frame for my 400ltr tank was £650 braced at the top & bolted through & fitted to the floor won't go anywhere. money well spent.

I have seen a windy my area with two loose straps around his 250 lit tank.they are the thin straps one would use on a suit case.

is the tank upright or flat as if flat not so bad, i have seen a windy going about in a astra van with a 500 litre flat tank with no strapping at all.

my 650ltr layflat tank is not secured.
By that I mean no straps or cage.
Its wedged very snugly between the wheel arches (peugeot swb expert) and up against the bulk head.
It took a lot of force and patience to get it in there and it definately does'nt budge, not even a mm ! would take a lot of effort and leverage to remove it (I should know I have before to protectakote the floor)
Its also baffled to the brim with about 25 meters of coiled perforated land drainage hose
I know many of you are going to disagree but hey ho my choice

bloke i used to work for has 5 vans (experts) with 600ltr tanks  - 4 of them rachet strapped - the other wasnt secured with anything when i left.
they used to slosh and slide about all over
he said if he fixed them to the van permanently it would then come under the m.o.t???
bonkers
mines caged and bolted and doesnt budge an inch

Hi SPE, as you say " it's your choice" but does your van insurance cover it. Truth known answer "NO"!
