When is it too windy for WFP
« on: September 12, 2011, 09:34:59 am »
Tha last time I cleaned in very strong, gusty wind a lot of the windows were far from clean when dry. The customers were OK about it but as the service I offer is "window cleaning" I don't want to make the same mistake again.
It's blowing like mad here this morning. I know the firms who employ have different pressure due to salarys etc but what are you sole traders doing today?

I find if the ground is wet then its likely that you'll get problems, its when its wet and dry you need to be concerned, thats when dust is about.

When is it too windy? Right about now I reckon.... hence sat on the laptop bored out me skull.....  :-\
Was going to try but some of the gusts on the coast are waaaaaaaaaaay too risky for my pole & pocket. But the custies will love it when I clean all that windswept cack off the glass - every cloud eh? kerching   ;D

When the water exits the brush, does a quick about 90 degrees and doesn't actually end up on the window.

When you super duper light weight carbon pole is flying in the air and the only thing that is stopping it blowing away is the hose it's attached to. ;D
I can remember when waking up stiff in the morning was a good thing.

I think it's more of a case of the water from the frames getting blown onto the glass, which leaves the marks.

I don't think it's debris in the air that makes the windows spotty when you clean them in the wind.

agree with tosh its the debris in the wind which stick to wet glass and leave dirty windows ,   i spent 3 hrs cutting wood this morning ready for the winter ,  Mike

It was pointless me doing the wfp jobs I had today as I live along the south coast in the Brighton area.

The windy conditions mean the windows would be covered in salt within half an hour of cleaning them so a day off for me.

Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

On previous windy days like today I decided not to work. But today I went because sun was out and it worked out alright even though I didn't start until 12pm.

Most work today was ok - gusts of around 30 mph had a couple later when the wind started to get stronger and blowing all the dust off the garden onto the conny - in the end bladed the side that kept getting covered in grit/dust.

as per MB - windy but wet ground no problem   windy and dry ground - potential problems
