« on: September 10, 2011, 11:56:38 pm »
I really get stressed doing first cleans !  I want to impress the customer and do a a spectacular job, but in the back of my mind I cannot relax until I receive payment.

Do I need therapy ?

depend's how long you have been doing it, if it is a new thing nerves are normal, if you have been doing it a few years then yes therapy is in order

Iv'e been in this game for 14 years, and have now moved to Ireland for family reasons. Hence, I am starting up again from scratch.

Therefore, every clean is a first clean at the moment, but I don't feel nervous about doing the job well, as I have confidence in my ability due to my years of experience, coupled with my practice of being very thorough.

We all know when we have done a good job, just as we know when we have cut corners (not that any of us would ever dare to even think about doing such a thing). So if you know you are doing a good job, you will have no need to be nervous about it.

If you aim for standards that you believe will exceed your customers' expectations, you won't go wrong.

not having a go at you chief but how can cleaning a piece of glass be stressful ?   if anything it should be thereputic.

If you dont believe in yourself or trust your workmanship than how are customers gonna believe in you ?

you have to be confident and most of all enjoy what you do,   that will soon rub off on your customers and thats it.

you have to start thinking positive and not negative,    remember negativity is 100% effective.

look upon all new 1st cleans as a wee challange and not a burden.

I would usually say good luck but believe me mate you don't need luck,

once you change your mindset then you will not even give a 1st clean a second thought and you will look back and think what was I stressed for.

ask yourself this !    when did anyone feel stressed while doing something they enjoy ?

Yes, mate.

Look, if you do a less than perfect job, no-one dies or gets harmed (unless you're using ladders and fall); the worst that'll happen is that they complain.

A complaint won't kill or injure you.

Man up.
