Do you find they think its a demeaning job , which is a stepping stone until something better comes along?

Ashamed to tell their mates of the job they do ?

Do you find its students who generally want a bit of extra cash?

Or maybe they love the job and view it as a permanent position.

Also do you see their little minds ticking over saying " i could build my own round and ditch this job"?

Just curious , and hope the people who employ could comment on this .

exactly that last comment, i was working for a windy for a few months, and if you dont look after your employees's and have a bit of savvy about them they will do what i did and build their own round, you can only take so much of making someone else rich! i.e earning a bloke 300 plus a day and giving you 50 quid!
if i ever employ, i will always pay the blokes well, dip my hand in my pocket at a lunchtime etc.....

i have only ever employed 3 lads for temps  1 last a day and was useless,  2nd one let me down on a builders clean  just before xmas, so didnt bother employing him after xmas, 3rd one was ok, but  had been a wc before and was full of bad habits as had worked for a company near me  whos policy was never to do frames,  wear what ever they liked for work,  if they didnt have a pole in there hand then you wouldnt know they where window cleaners,  

the prob you got with this job is any one thinks they can do it, so start up  a lot mess it up and then jack it in, leaving custy with the impression they can get a window cleaners for £4

when i worked for a guy many years ago i just needed some cash!


then after a few months i thought this guy makes pretty good money for doing this "bummers" job!

then i worked hard for him knowing i would save up for a van and start up myself within a year!!

my boy that works for me loves it and he knows when i give it up its his round . we joke about being the lowest of the low , but we earn good money for very little time thats all that matters

Thats the thing,

the guys who started out working for someone, and have commented above....have just proved that they think " i aint working for him when i can start my own round"

and are now on here doing their own thing

It must be one of the hardest industries to employ .... and keep staff working for you rather than set up alone.. because of the relatively cheap set up costs,

But i suppose only a few will have the will, determination and drive to succed, ...

my mates just lost 3.5 k worth of work a month,  he employed a bloke who worked for him for a few months then said he was leaving and all the custy went with him,  and the bloke only found out when he went around to clean them after the lad had left

not always the case, my old man employed lads for years, paid them well and treated them well, in fact my brother has just laid of the one lad that had been with them for 20 years, he even offered him a van and a shed load of commercial as redundancy so he could go self employed, but he didn't want the hassle and took another job plus the redundancy rather than start up himself. saying that the work was nearly all commercial so the lads had no idea on the value of the work they were doing.

I initially worked for a fella who paid peanuts - minimum wage - and worked me like a dog. I had to do the stuff his bone idle son couldnt be bothered doing; and was forever being told how he could always get a Polish fella to do what I was doing for £5 and hour; accept the fact that my share of the xmas tips would be lower than his sons despite doing better work than him; and when the time came he'd sell the round for 10 times it value but I'd have first dibs on it... oooh lucky me  : alls I'd have to do is wait 15 years for this privilege. If his son didnt want it, that is. 
So I bided my time, practised all the things I needed to do to make myself a better window cleaner than him, tried to find out what he wasnt doing right and where I could improve when the time came.... and the feeling when I told him I was ditching him was sweeeeeeeeet! 
Certainly when I worked with him I felt like the bottom of the food chain with no chance of getting anywhere with what was being paid and no prospects at all. Just a bit of respect and trust wouldve kept me slaving with him longer. So I suppose I wouldnt be in the happy place where I am now if he'd done that

It's funny how much more motivated you are when it's your business to when your working for someone else!!!

Worked for a geezer for 5 years and I mean worked, half the time I'd be out slogging it on my own for min wage and he thought he was doing me a favour 

Now run my own window business with my own lad an I'd never dream of treating him how I was treated cause i no how it feels!! and I'd never make him do anything I wouldn't do myself!!

Bottom line your can't get rich working for someone else
