Hi Craig,

Work it to your advantage, if he's busy he will have overflow and with you being so close you can work off him.

I could do with someone 2 doors from me!

Cheers

It could work for your benefit too mate.

Maybe even help him on some jobs and learn a few things too that has got him to the position he is in now..

It doesn't matter where he lives in relation to yourself it's all about how and where you advertise. Unless you live on a main road leading into a town centre you won't get much if any business from people driving past anyway, and neighbours rarely want or do pay the full price someone else will half a mile away.

so you are already of the same property ladder as him and you've just started. he has had to work to get to your level ( unless he has downsized)

he's playing catch up with you, he''l be on another forum moaning that he's the biggest in the area and he still lives next to a new starter..... it will be eating him up on the inside ;D ;D

i don't get it. if he's already a competitor what's the location of his house got to do with anything? i assume you cover more then a 10 house radius?

What makes him the biggest competitor? Does he have more than one van on the road?

Also, who cares where he lives. Not going to make any differeance on how many calls you get.

Yes I know it, makes Libya look like Notting Hill.

Few of the guys have hit the nail on the head, it makes no difference whatsoever where he lives, unless you were getting plenty of business from a sign written van outside your home.

If I think about it, I couldn't tell you where my plumber, electrician, or painter & decorator live (except I know its in the same town as me), they could live in streets full of people from the same trade - wouldn't make a blind bit of difference either way to me.

People buy from people, carry on doing the best job you can and everything else will take care of itself.

This would not bother me in the slightest as 90% of my work is well out of my home town! I think it could even be a blessing in disguise. Befriend him and even help each other out from time to time at busy periods. I certainly would never see this as a problem!
