tea stain
« on: October 25, 2005, 10:03:05 pm »
My little girl knocked over a full cup of hot tea.
I have a 80/20 wool carpet. The Penthouse carpet guide which came with it suggested using 1/4 teasthingy clear hand/dishwashing detergent with 1 cup of warm water.I took it that meant washing up liquid.I have tried this but no luck.
Have i made a mistake with washing up liquid.
It then says use Hydrogen Peroxide 1/2 cup with 1 teasthingy of ammonia and leave to stand for 2-3hrs under a weighted sheet of plastic wrap.It then says repeat application and dry under weighted plastic wrap unntill removal complete.
Then drywith weighted paper towels. The when stain is gone apply white vinegar(undiluted).
I have not tried peroxide yet.
Will this work or should i try something else.
If all else fails does anyone know of someone in the Wiltshire area good at stain removal. :[email]

and rinse well maybe with a 1 to 4 vinegar water solution blot not rub and leave a good wod of  kitchen paper wieghted over night

You have made a mistake using washing up liquid but all might not be lost unless you have aggresively rubbed the stain bursting the pile.

Before you go down the route of powerful cleaners you could try Wineaway which is an excellent natural stain remover.

Paul

same thing happened to one of my customers after careful consideration ,I told him to phone his insurance company.
from my point it isn’t worth the time or effort trying to get it out and risking the insurance company blaming me.
so dont tell them that you have tried, they always look for a way out of paying
