Would A Shurflo Pump Work As A Booster Pump?
« on: August 26, 2011, 04:44:35 pm »
Hi All

I have just ordered a hf5 4040 from gaps water, and was wondering if I cannot get enough pressure on-site would it be possible to use either a 60psi or 100psi shurflo pump as a booster pump?

if you have got one give it a try ;D,i bought a second hand booster pump off e bay for twenty quid and it does not look much different to a flojet or surflo, just make sure it does not run all the time,i use a timer plug with every other segment on so it gives 15 mins on 15 mins off this has really made a big differnce to how quickly i can produce water and how efficient the set up is

this sounds interesting, as I have an old shurflo pump and an hf5 myself
the ro is set up in my flat as a static (but no tank, I feed it straight to my van)
could I wire it to the mains by way of a transformer ? if so what would I need to do ?
would I put the pump after my pre filters ?

I guess you could try that.

I have a 300gpd atm with a booster pump and I fitted that after the pre filters, the sediment filter helps to protect it.

I guess for a test you could use your leisure battery to power the pump.

and then if that worked and you wanted something bit more permanent get something like this

I have a booster pump from pure-freedom but I dont think it will work with a 2500gpd system.

Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

I have tried, but the flow rate was high and the pressure switch will cut the pump out.

you could easily bypass pressure switch

ok thanks, but why do you think this was ? had you bypassed the pressure switch as elite mike had suggested or is it just not powerful enough given the size of the membrane ?

so if it can be done with this pump i cannot see why it cannot be done with the sureflow.
