Derek, looking at the pics, it looks too far gone for a straight strip and refinish. It will need to be sanded back which is an art in its self and then resealed .

Derek agree with paul looks to far gone.

What type of wood is it ?

When i did my barn in france 160 sqm chestnut the one thing i remember was this

GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT.

Or follow this make sure you go with the grain or it will look fury. i cleaned mine with white spirit at the end to also open the grain. then used a french product called will du parquet.

24grit coarse first cutt of the floor

40grit coarse polishing cut

80grit  medium polishing cut

120grit fine polishing

I wood walk get it wood aahhh bact to me rose ;D

To do a properjob it needs sanding and refinishing , but that would cost sy £20 sq/m which is a non starter by the sound of it. The job could be done with a good clean (even with polish stripper) a good scrub and rinse / neutralise ,dry then apply floor polish. It would look great apart from stilleto imprints but would only be a temp fix unless they maintained the finish with appropriate maintainance which they wont.
Talk it through with them to come to a solution to suit their pocket with your expectation.

Derek

When I bought a Texatherm system I was given a demo on wood floor cleaning with their machine which is vacuumated.

Never did any but the guy who demo'd the machine reckoned it was easy money and payed better than carpets. There are loads of products around with different finishes including - high gloss / non slip - Arpal in Selkirk are a good supplier although there are many others.

Using a machine thats 75kg plus.  Hire sanders are useless.

We have been sanding floors or 20+ years. Give me a call and I can talk through the options. This floor doesnt look too bad. You cant remove the scratching but you can improve the appearance massively with a basic rotary machine.
