Hi,ive just voted "proty" but do think t/m are more powerfull,but the 2 jobs i did today,if i had only a t/m then i wouldnt have been able to do either,both house,s were down long paths,with out acces for a van!

I don't have a truckmount, but the question is a little unfair.... Should you not choose the correct equipment for a job!!!!!!!!

Recently used a porty & a pad on the same job!! where does that fit in?

I agree with you but i suppose the issue we should look at is to supply a good service we should be able to supply what is good and recomended for the customer not what is easier for us, I mainly use a truck mout yes lazzy i might be. but i also use a portable for those jobs where a TM is not suitable, if youve ever worked on a ship with a TM and dodgy shut downs you will agree a porty is a god send. other methods ive used like tex therm and dry compound make a nice change but i never seem to get enough work to justify buying the systems, but it's easy too hire or put hands on them for that odd job, but if you ask me the most effective way is torn between two the TM and the portable, im a TM kind of guy but have seen some amazzing results with a portable so was my recent investment worth while apparently not, looking at the results so far but I think what ever the out come im happy with what iv got.

I think in answer to your question, there is no one system that will do all, it is important to realise the need for more than one single cleaning system, even if you run a truck mount it will not do everything even though some like to kid themselves it will.

HWE, Low Moisture rotary systems. contra rotating brush, dry Sponges, dry fusion, texa therm, therma dri, chemdri's sytem, Charly super pads, truck mount, the portable, the highbrid, they all have a place, it takes a qualified technicain to know which system is best to use, for the best results, sometimes this can be a combination of more than one system.

Met you the other day and Hydra master be it just outside the door of the workshop heaven forbid we should enter ( sorry Craig just joking) I have been in the cleaning business for 23 years, eight of those spent with portable machines bonnet buffing etc, and for the rest of that time with truck mounts, first electric and now diesel.
And I certainly wouldn't go back to the former methods, I would imagine those who are new to this game would go for the cheaper option mainly portable hot water extraction, until they managed to build their business up,
but eventually they will aspire to the best money can buy, and that dear friends is a good truck mount, as this will make their life easier jobs quicker to do, and the final result better.
But of course for this you have to put your money where your mouth is.

But there are things to consider, a portable machine is cheaper to replace, need only a small van or estate car to carry it, where as the truck mount will require at least a 22 cwt van plus the problems with parking adjacent to the customer's property.

But then for those of us who have been in the business for many years we can ,and do pick and choose our customers, so the ones that have problems with access we tend to give one of our competitors with a portable machine  ( 0 lucky competitor )

Hi James

You will need hot water extraction, be it truck or porty, low mosture and a dry system. this way you can offer your customer the differant benifits of each system.

For example I quoted on the phone the other day for a flat that i could not see as the tenant did not get the keys until the day of the clean. I got their on the day and found out that their was not way with the power of my macine that i could clean the cheap rubbish carpets that the owner had put down. These had been cleaned befoe as they had had the life sucked out of them. so there was no other way but to dry clean them.

One makor advantage with my setup is that i use both detergents and microspitting, I tend to use MS more but their are times when its easier to just do it the old way -) Anyway as you knw with MS you have to brush in, so i had my agimac on van. always have vac, and I always carry some dry powder so with this problem it was easy to solve.

The other great thing was that the tenant had an allergy to cats so she was lucky I am a Network member.

being able to do this type of thing is one fact that you must think about when making you choice. I would not tell you to go the same way but just point out the advatages of my system.

I dont think there ever was a conclusion  to this question as we all know the correct answer, but it was good to know either way, and Ian just under £30  but the best monney iv ever spent I just love it
