Mowed out
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:20:12 am »
Is it just me or is everyone absolutely flat out, fully booked until 25 th august running 4 / 5 jobs pre day most around the £120 mark.
Good job i have my full time assistant, hows everyone else doing.
Normally the summer school holidays it goes quiet for me and its just steady away.
To say we are in a recession this year has been by far the best for us, maybe its people making do with what they have and not replacing stuff.
Long may it continue.

I'm taking a break, starting by cleaning my own sofas, carpets and oven. :-\

August is usually busy for me, but this year is definitely the busiest.... :)

Lousy last two months for me  :( .June was bursting at the seems with work , even turning work down due to wanting it to be done yesterday . July had more cancellations than  all year and this month, which is normally busy  has been dribs and drabs  :(. Hopefully something will come up to turn it all around for me  :D

I'm b.u.g.g.e.r.e.d if I can put my finger on how this game works.
12 years in the game and normally school holiday time is reasonably quiet, but this year has been manic.
January whilst you lot were clocking up the miles I was clocking up the shoe leather with leaflet drops because little else was happening.
On the other hand, another area we advertise in (70 miles away) has been vertually dead now for over a month.

But then sometimes everything you touch turns to gold like today with confirmation of a hotel upholstery clean up we got, even though we weren't the cheapest :D  So there's a few days work to be booked into September on that one.

Hi Guys

It's good to see many busy, as a Mod I can tell how busy people are by how much time they spend on here and a lot are quiet meaning they are busy cleaning carpets.

Keep working at the fundamentals and your business will become busy almost all the time, sometimes too much so ;)

Cheers

Doug

Depends how you look at it Doug, You'll notice i spend alot of time flicking on and off during the day, but i am manic at the moment!!!!!! Hows that i here you ask?????? I'll tell you  ;D

My family run a contract cleaning company and we employ around a 100 staff, so i'm mainly office based these days buti do all the carpets because i genuinly enjoy it, theres nothing better than walking into a complete mess of a carpet and seeing the customers face after you've finished!

I wish i had more time to push the carpet and upholstery side of things and go out just doing that, but there just never seems the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Oh well you never know what the future holds, and i've got 14 complete schools so far to do before the kids go back!

Regards

Billy

Doug's forgetting that lots of people have iPhones and really posh people like me have ipad2's so can be on the forum whilst out and about on the job. Plus, lots of people have dual personalities on here, so can be in when they are out and out and when they are in.  :o

Watched a programme about lemmings and population crashes last night  ::). This comes about because they multiply so fast and loads die in the chaos or something. Was thinking this is whats happening to new and maybe some established carpet cleaners.

I think quite a lot more will be jumping off cliffs soon blindly following each others wacky ideas. ;D
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I'm not bothered one way or the other, Mike, it's just that Doud Holloway seems to take exception to people posting under false names, just warning you! Second thoughts, maybe Hector Mildew is Doug's alter ego ;D
